West Ottawa Inducts New Members To The Athletic Hall Of Fame

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024 West Ottawa High School Inducted Four New Members To The Athletic Hall Of Fame. This Is The 25th Induction. The Hall of Fame was first visualized in the early 1980’s by Athletic Director Roger Borr and Coach Jack Carlson. The idea of a Hall of Fame was put on hold until the fall of 1996, when a committee, headed by Athletic Director Ron Allen, actively pursued the development of the current Hall of Fame. The First Induction Was In 1997. With This Year’s Induction, The Athletic Hall Of Fame Stands At 120 Inductees. Which Includes: 20 At Large Members: Contributing Over 585 Years Of Service To West Ottawa Athletics. 19 Coaches: Over 455 Accumulated Years Of Coaching Over 653 Accumulated Seasons Of Coaching 69 Conference Championships, 27 District Championships, 26 Regional Championships, State Runner-Up 7 Times, 6 State Championships And Over 4,130 Wins 81 Athletes: Competing In Over 524 Seasons Of Competition Earning Over 534 Varsity Letters Winning 83 Individual Conference Championships All-State Honors 125 Times 32 Individual State Champions High School All-American Honors 19 Times 15 Earning College All-American Honors 1 Super Bowl Champion (Twice) 1 Olympic Gold Medalist. The Class Of 2024 Consists Of Four Deserving Individuals: Ato Condelee, Class Of 2013 Participated In Football, Basketball And Track & Field Holland Sentinel Football All-Area 1st Team – 2013 Ranked Top Great Lakes Prospects In Michigan – 2013 Played Football At Ferris State University – Four Years Track All-State – High Jump – 6’ 7” – 2013 Track State Champion – Long Jump – 23’ 3/4” – 2013 Earned 9 West Ottawa Varsity Letters Cortney Lokker Naber, Class Of 2004 Participated In Basketball and Volleyball School Records: Basketball – Consecutive Free Throws / Best Free Throw % – 2003 Averaged A Double/Double – 15 Points / 10.5 Rebounds – 2003 Volleyball – Most Kills Per Season – 2004 All Conference Honors – Basketball 2002, 2003, Volleyball 2004 Volleyball Scholarship GVSU – Three NCAA DII Tournaments NCAA II National Champions 2005 Earned 5 West Ottawa Varsity Letters Ron Allen West Ottawa’s Sixth Athletic Director: 1995-2010 Tenure As West Ottawa Athletic Director Added Seven Athletic Programs Enjoyed Teams Winning Over 90 Team Championships Established West Ottawa Youth Sports Program Established West Ottawa Athletic Hall Of Fame Coached Football, Softball, Track & Field At West Ottawa Graduate Of West Ottawa High School – 1977 Karen Dykema West Ottawa Athletic Secretary: Began In 1995 Presently In Her 30th Year Supports & Encourages 29 Athletic Teams Athletic Secretary For Three Athletic Directors Ron Allen, Pat Marsman, Bill Kennedy MIAAA Athletic Administrative Assistant Of The Year: 2022-2023 The Four Inductees Are All Excellent Examples Of Dedication And Athletic Achievement That Ensure The Success Of West Ottawa Athletics.
