On an October Saturday afternoon with temperatures in the 70s, the men's cross-country team managed to finish in the top half of a 37 team race that included ALL of the top 25 teams in the state. The Panthers were also able to defeat the entire OK Red Conference including powerhouse teams such as East Kentwood and Rockford. School record holder, Max Post led the way for the team followed by senior co-captain Boston Wilkinson and junior co-captain Brody Mulder. The top 7 was rounded out by freshman speedster Silas Pinney, senior co-captain Sebastian Ruiz, junior Thiago Solis and sophomore Miles Koch. The importance of racing the Portage course with its classic cross-country hill cannot be overlooked. In just 20 days, West Ottawa will need to bring their best possible race back to Portage to compete in one of the most challenging state regionals around. Needless to say, the young men will be determined to do well in the OK Red Conference meet on October 22 before tuning up for the state qualifier on October 30!
