Boys Varsity Tennis beats Holland 8-1

West Ottawa defeated Holland by an 8-1 score on August 25th, riding a sweep of the doubles matches to secure the dual-meet win. West Ottawa won 3 out of 4 matches in the singles line-up and then finished the afternoon with a clean run through all five doubles courts. Holland’s lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Floyd Webb beat Soren Traver 6-3, 6-0. West Ottawa answered quickly at No. 2 singles, as Jack Zernicke defeated Victor Oszi 6-4, 6-1, and Isaac Watkin followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Carter Martin at No. 3 singles. Gavin White added another straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, blanking Keegan Welsh 6-0, 6-0. The doubles lineup was even more decisive. Lincoln Taylor and Dawson Linn led the charge at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Josh Reimink and Jonah Hoff were just as sharp in a 6-1, 6-0 result at No. 2 doubles. Brody Sayrath and James Flemming (3 Doubles, Landon Schwallier and Thomas Diekevers (4 Doubles), and Ethan Gibson and Blake Theobald (5 Doubles) all completed the sweep with dominant straight-set wins. The 8-1 finish gave West Ottawa another solid result early in the season.
