West Ottawa High School Announces Hiring of Michael Vollmer as Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

Holland, MI — West Ottawa High School is proud to announce the hiring of Michael Vollmer as the new Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. Vollmer brings an accomplished coaching background, extensive player development expertise, and a history of building competitive, team-centered programs across high school, collegiate, and professional levels. Vollmer most recently served as an Assistant Coach for Utah Valley University Women’s Soccer (NCAA Division I), 2023–2025, contributing to a nationally respected program and helping develop elite collegiate athletes. His additional coaching experience includes: Varsity Head Coach, East Grand Rapids High School (2020–2023) Co-Owner of MVxNB Training & Director of Goalkeeping (2020–2023) Head Coach, Grand Haven Admirals (Semi-Professional), 2021–2023 Head Coach, Muskegon Risers (M2, Second Division Professional Arena Soccer), 2022–2024 Athletic Director Bill Kennedy expressed his enthusiasm for Vollmer’s hiring, stating: “I am excited to bring Michael on board to lead the Panthers Girls Soccer Program. Throughout the interview process his experience, empathy, and ability to relate to our Girls came through. We can't wait to have him start working with our girls in the coming days.” Vollmer shared his excitement about joining the Panthers community:“I am honored and excited to join an athletic department that strives for excellence, hard work, and a genuine commitment to student-athletes. I’m looking forward to a new challenge of competing in the tough OK Red Conference. It’s clear that this community cares deeply about its student athletes, as shown through its incredible facilities and the resources it provides. I can’t wait to get to work, get to know and start building relationships with the girls and the school staff, and build a hard-working, team-first, competitive, and responsible program—one that gives back to the community both on and off the field. Let’s go Panthers!” Vollmer will begin his role immediately as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
