West Ottawa’s men’s cross-country team hosted 19 other teams at the 37th annual Bredeweg invite on their brand new home course today. The Panthers finished in 13th place despite missing some key runners from the top 7. Junior co-captain Alex Bos led the way for the Panthers with a season best time of 17:42 to finish in 31st place overall. Freshman standout Connor Wooley was West Ottawa’s second man to cross the line in a personal best time of 18:09 which puts him in the 20th place on the all time best freshmen 5k runners in West Ottawa history. Senior Thomas Dummer (18:36), junior Joe Elkins (19:29) and Senior Tyler Bush (20:23) rounded out the top 5 for West Ottawa. All told, between the varsity race and the JV race, West Ottawa men raced to 19 improved times and season bests including 11 personal all time best races. The Panther runners’ next competiton will be at the Sparta High School invitational held on Saturday, September 14 at 11966 Fruit Ridge Avenue in Kent City, Michigan.
