Panthers News · West Ottawa hires Nikki Walworth as New Head Coach for Softball Program.

West Ottawa Athletics is pleased to announce that it has hired Nikki Walworth to take over the Softball program. Nikki brings a wealth of experience in the game along with being a teacher at the high school to the table.

“Nikki stood out against a strong pool of candidates during the interview process. Her playing and coaching career speaks for itself and the fact that she is in the building as a Math teacher is certainly a plus as well”, said West Ottawa Athletic Director Bill Kennedy.

Nikki has a long history of playing and coaching softball. She attended Grandville high school, where she was a varsity starter for 4 years. After high school, Walworth played for 4 years at Saginaw Valley State University and played for teams that won GLIAC conference titles in 2008 and 2009 and made it to Super Regionals in 2009. After her fast pitch playing career ended at SVSU, she came back home to the west side of the state and spent a year as a volunteer assistant JV coach at Grandville. After the year of assisting, Walworth became the head JV coach at Byron Center High School for 2 years. During those same two years, she was the head coach for the Grand Rapids Blaze 16U. Her next two years coaching were as the Varsity head coach at Kent City High School. After a couple years off from coaching after moving to Holland with her family, she’s ready to get back on the field and excited to start working with our girls here at WO!
