Meet Recap

The WO Girls CC team finished another season of growth by competing at the MHSAA State finals on Saturday afternoon. The girls finished 16th overall, a five place improvement from 2016, and the best State Meet performance the program has had in the past decade. West Ottawa finished as the third team from the West Michigan area behind Rockford and East Grand Rapids, finishing ahead of OK Red teams of Caledonia, Hudsonville, and Grand Haven.

Leading the way was Abby Olson, who capped off a stellar sophomore season with a 40th place finish. Next was Taylor Schott (JR), Iris Swarthout (JR), Emily Laird (FR), and Katie Frauenheim (JR) who all finished under 20:00 minutes and placed competitively within the field. Senior Emma DeNave and Sophomore Andrea Kennedy finished as 6th and 7th runners for the team, both competing well throughout the race.
