West Ottawa High School
Hudsonville High School
Though Hudsonville gained control of the play early, the Panthers struck first when Raekwon Cunningham gained control at midfield and found Capi Urbina moving upfield. Urbina led Omar Mireles with a deft pass, and Mireles finished. The goal energized the Panthers, who improved their play at midfield allowing for greater possession. But it was Hudsonville who struck next, chipping a ball along the endline over keeper Sam Beetham to a waiting teammate. The half ended even.
Early in the second half, Danny DeForest drew a foul along the endline near the corner. Off the free kick, Ivan Chacon played an excellent ball into the box that was knocked down by the Hudsonville keeper. Estevan Rosas put himself in perfect position to clean up the loose ball. Only five minutes later, Urbina carried the ball to the endline then served a beautiful pass to DeForest who knocked a bouncing shot into the net. The Panthers were up 3-1.
Though Hudsonville lost some of their composure at this point, they did not lose their energy. A series of yellow cards did nothing to stop the Eagles from building momentum. They scored at the 14:43 mark off a corner kick, then again at 12:21.
Despite a spirited final 12 minutes, neither team managed the go ahead goal, leaving this OK Red match in a draw.
