West Ottawa’s men’s cross-country team took second place in the Covenant Christian invitational on Friday, August 25. Senior speedsters Aaron Weimer and Logan Reimink once again finished in 1st and 2nd places overall with times of 16:50 and 17:09 respectively. A panther pack made up of senior stalwart Otto Dryfhout (18:43), freshman “hotshot” Alex Bos (18:45) and gutsy sophomore Colin Brown (1849) finished in 15th, 16th and 17th places to solidify the team’s score. Rising freshman star Johnny Muoio (18:56) and sophomore Thomas Dummer (18:57) rounded out West Ottawa’s top 7. The fast course led to improved times for all 34 of the panthers including 15 runners with personal records. This early season speed speaks volumes about the work these young men did during the summer. West Ottawa’s next competitions will be on their home course September 9 at 9 am, as they host the 34th annual Bredeweg cross-country invitational. Expect the times to keep dropping as the men keep picking up the pace!
