West Ottawa seniors Aaron Weimer and Logan Reimink provided the “one-two” punch to lead the Panthers to a highly contested first place finish in the Unity Christian Early Bird cross-country invitational on Friday, August 18. Weimer (18:38) and Reimink (19:12) led the race from the start and finished in first and second places respectively. Freshman sensation Alex Bos (20:31) joined “rookie” senior Isaac Sierra (21:02) and sophomore Thomas Dummer (21:05) to round out West Ottawa’s top 5 by finishing in 7th, 14th and 16th places on a tough hilly course with very tough competition.
Both Colin Brown (sophomore 21:08) and Alex Boersma (freshman 21:15) “pushed” points onto the third place team (Unity Christian) by finishing in front of their 4th and 5th runners. Jenison’s pack looked to win the meet with a strong finish, but the Panthers proved to be just a bit stronger. Grand Rapids Covenant Christian finished in 4th with 72 points.
West Ottawa’s next competition will be on Friday, August 25th at the Grand Rapids Covenant Christian Invitational.
