Panthers B-side playing in Division 2 came away with a 19-7 victory tonight at Kenowa Hills. Although they got off to a slow start in their first league match going down 7-0 in the first half, the young team took the field focused in the second half. Great support and hard running by John Ouellette early in the second half led to a rookie score by Riley Supple in the corned to cut the Kenowa lead to 7-5. A tough kick from the sideline fell short, but the Panthers continued to pressure the kenowa defensive line.
Freshman David Rich made his much anticipated entry into the game and made an immediate impact by picking off an errant pass and going 70 meters to score under the post, Dylan Werley converted and West Ottawa took the lead they would not relinquish!
The team finished off Kenowa Hills with nice quick tap plays off penalties by Justin Rich who finished off great supported runs and scored with 5 minutes remaining to close the door. Dylan Werley again perfect on the kick. Next match for the B-side will be Home on April 12th against rival Okemos out of Lansing.
