The rain delay added even more anxiety to the players of the two teams in the OK-Red who are still undefeated in conference play, West Ottawa and Grandville. The year before this same matchup resulted in a 4-4 tie; it was looking like this year might be just as close.
The Panthers held strong at their doubles. Reid Frescura and Greg Christie lead at first doubles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over their opponents. The rest of the doubles teams for West Ottawa also won in straight sets. The singles players for Grandville had other plans in mind. With returning junior Matt Hamilton who had won conference and regionals at the 1 singles flight leading a strong singles lineup, they were not going down easy. All four singles flights for Grandville beat West Ottawa, resulting in yet another 4-4 tie. Going into the last match down by one point, the Bulldogs managed to fight off the Panthers to keep their undefeated streak in conference going. Panthers, still undefeated as well, will keep on going as they head into their next match at Hudsonville on the 21st.
