Meet Recap

The Girls CC team took second place at the MHSAA Regional meet today in Portage. Because they were one of the top three teams in the region, they have qualified as a team to the State Finals that will be held at Michigan International Speedway on November 5th. This is the first time the team has qualified for the state finals in nine years.

Leading the way for the Panthers were Emma DeNave and Abby Olson. The two raced competitively and consistently, finishing in 7th and 9th overall. A 7th place finish for DeNave marks a significant improvement from 21st in the region in 2015. Notably, Olson was the fastest freshman in the race. Senior Jacinda Cole also had a strong race as she moved up in the field throughout the race to help secure WO’s trip to the state meet as the fifth runner and final scorer.

The team will look to have a consistent and competitive final race at MIS next Saturday as they compete against the best teams in the state.
