Meet Recap

The WO Girls Cross Country team had an excellent showing at their home invitational on Saturday morning as they faced their first competitive field. The team won the meet won with a score of 33.

The panthers were led by sophomore Abby Olson who finished 3rd overall with a time of 19:20. Following Olson were Taylor Schott (JR), Iris Swarthout (JR), and Emma DeNave (SR), finishing in 5th, 6th, and 8th respectively. Rounding out the scoring was junior Mady VanWieren who finished 11th. Freshman Emily Laird had an outstanding race and shaved nearly 45 seconds off of her lifetime best to finish 15th in 20:35, and Katie Fraueheim had a strong finish to help the panthers secure a strong 1-7 varsity lineup.

The team travels to East Lansing on Friday to compete against the best teams in the state in the “Elite Race” of the Spartan Invitational.
