Meet Recap

Led by junior star, Aaron Weimer (16:48) in 1st place overall, the West Ottawa Men’s Cross-country team placed 2nd in the Ottawa County half of the Kent/Ottawa invitational on Saturday, October 15. Once again, Weimer blasted out of the starting box with the leaders and then held on for the full race to finish as the number one runner in Ottawa County, (as seen in the photo heading in to the finish). Logan Reimink (8th place in 17:11), Liam Walits (14th place in 17:33) teamed up with Jake Stryker (22nd place in 17:52) and Alex Miller (29th place in 18:09) to solidify the second place team finish with solid performances on the Calvin College course. Thomas Dummers (31st place in 18:33) and Shaun Lohman (34th place in 18:28) rounded out the panthers’ top 7 varsity runners. This race was the final tune-up for West Ottawa before heading for the OK Red Conference finals at Riverview Park in Grand Rapids on Thursday, October 20. The first two meets in the OK Red were “jamborees” which each counted for 25% of the conference standings for teams and individuals. The conference meet is considered a “final” and not a “jamboree” and counts for the other 50% of team and individual standings. At the OK Red Conference Finals, varsity men will race at 4:00 pm.
