Meet Recap

West Ottawa’s Men’s Cross-country team powered to a third place finish in the Otsego Invitational on Saturday morning to defy the on line predictions once again. Using a top 4 power pack of Aaron Weimer (16:43), Jake Stryker (17:01), Logan Reimink (17:14) and a hard charging Liam Walits (17:22), the panthers grabbed four varsity medals with 8th, 13th, 16th and 18th places overall. West Ottawa’s top 7 was rounded out by Shaun Lohman (18:15), Thomas Dummer (18:26) and Joe Lawrence (18:58). This solid team effort to move from 6th place to 3rd was sparked by Walits and his amazing ability to respond to the challenge of racing. In the varsity and jv races combined, the panthers picked up 14 personal records and continue to bring their times down at a critical point in the season. The next competition for cross-country will be this coming Tuesday in the second of two OK Red conference jamborees. The entire conference will race at Grand Haven high School. Varsity guys race at 4:30 pm.
